Japanese publisher Konami, the company behind the Metal Gear Solid series, will celebrate its 40th anniversary this month.

Digital Spy celebrates Konami in this article:

Entering its fourth decade in the industry, the gaming giant revealed that European expansion is on its agenda for the future.

"We in Europe play a major part in Konami’s global business," company president Kunio Neo told MCV. "Titles such as Pro Evolution Soccer were so strong in Europe that Japan created versions tailored to European tastes, and we have a major say in all titles that are on the horizon.

"We are now contributing to the development pot with a raft of stunning titles and - as shown with the likes of GTi Club and New International Track And Field - we are being entrusted with the future of respected Konami titles, and charged with taking them forward."

Later this year Konami will release Job Island: Hard Working People, Castlevania: Judgement and Pro Evo 2009 on Wii, with a host of original titles also promised.
